A $375,000.00 settlement for a 48 year old woman who fell down the basement stairs of her Rockville Center apartment building. The basement stairs were modified by the apartment owner to “try” to accommodate a ramp and stairs. The accommodation was so the building superintendent could wheel equipment down to the basement. Mr. Gunn retained an expert to inspect the stairwell. This expert found multiple building code violations. Our client sustained a fractured ankle that required two surgeries. While on the trial calendar in Nassau County, a settlement in the amount of $375,000 was secured at a mediation.
